What is benefits for him? Be smarter and wise, do not follow your cleric blindly, he will deceive you and bring on you disaster. Islamic teaching is a rational religion , not religion of dogma like people who live in jungle, who do not know knowledge, they worship and kiss stone.
سۡمِ ٱللهِ ٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ (١)

وَمِنۡهُم مَّن يَقُولُ رَبَّنَآ ءَاتِنَا فِى ٱلدُّنۡيَا حَسَنَةً۬ وَفِى ٱلۡأَخِرَةِ حَسَنَةً۬ وَقِنَا عَذَابَ ٱلنَّارِ (٢٠١)
الٓرۚ ڪِتَـٰبٌ أَنزَلۡنَـٰهُ إِلَيۡكَ لِتُخۡرِجَ ٱلنَّاسَ مِنَ ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ إِلَى ٱلنُّورِ بِإِذۡنِ رَبِّهِمۡ إِلَىٰ صِرَٲطِ ٱلۡعَزِيزِ ٱلۡحَمِيدِ (١)

Based on al Quran the Arabs were a nation that often had conflicts, hostility, kidnappings and civil-wars caused by different ethnicities and religious beliefs. They killed their children foolishly, due to their lack of knowledge Q. 6;140. A man could marry women more than four Q..4:3, many women became slaves, and can be traded etc. Q.24:33 They were at the brink of a pit of Fire.Q. 3;103.
Imagine ! how Arab people made a house? They made house from skin of animal, It was not real house but just a tent, movable, Q.16;80-81. They moved from one place to another place. During Muhammad’s (pbuh) time there was no police to guard people, there were no hospitals to go to when people got sick, also there was no hospitals for animals, no telephones, buses and electricity. It was very difficult to find water for bathing and washing dirty clothes. They lived in desert. When strong winds come up in the desert, the hot sand can damage human skin and eyes.
Therefore Allah and the Prophet Muhammad asked women to cover their entire body with a cloth (burqa). Women are forbidden to go outside without accompanied by her brother or husband.
So Burqa, Hijab, Veil is not the code of Islamic dress, but the Arab traditional dress who live in conflict on desert at ancient time.

The Prophet Muhammad was a perfect man in the context of his time, We do not need to follow his actions in a literal sense, but, only in the context of our time.

Nowadays, Saudi Arabia still ban women to drive car, women have to have a guardian when she go outside. Its unbelievable, women still treat inequality with men.

Verily never will Allah change the condition of a people

Therefore, we, Muslim really need to change the old interpretation to the modern interpretation on 21 st. Century.

CAN MUSLIMS PRAY ( SHALAT) IN OUR LANGUAGE? YES.
If there is no a verse that Allah forbid to pray in other language, no Problem.
We will fall into Sinful Syrick if we follow an imam, cleric that against Al Quran.
Do not feel guilty if you pray in your own language.
Allah create all nations and all languages.

Ancient Arab interpretation; Often we hear from Extremist Muslim scholars that Muslim are forbidden to pray with their own language, because Arabic language is Allah’s language. Muslim can not change to your own language, and your prayer is unacceptable. Arab Scholar want Arabic language became international language. That is why Scholar think that Muslim are forbidden
to pray with own language. Actually Allah and Prophet never forbid Muslim use other language beside Arabic language. Right?
Progressive Clerics or modern interpretation; Based on Al Quran, yes, Muslim are allowed to pray with your own language in order you can understand what you are saying in prayer. You can feel deeply every do'a you are saying to Allah.
Allah create all languages, not only Arab language, but many languages in this world. Allah understand all languages. But if you can understand Arabic language, it will be wise to use Arabic language. but if not I urge strongly to use your own language.

O mankind, We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into races and tribes, so that you may identify one another. Surely the noblest of you, in Allah’s sight, is the one who is most pious of you. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware. QS 49:13.
And among His Signs is the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of your languages and colours. Verily, in that are indeed signs for men of sound knowledge. QS 30:22.
Just happened that Prophet Muhammad (saw) His messenger was Arab. That is why Allah sent down His messages to prophet with Arabic language. As Allah say in Al Quran below;
Thus We have sent it down, being a command in Arabic. And if you follow their desires, after the knowledge that has come to you, there shall be neither a friend for you against Allah, nor a savior. QS 13: 37.
Alif Lam Ra. 1 These are verses of the enlightening Book. (1) We have sent it down, as an Arabic Qur’an, so that you may understand. (2) By revealing this Qur’an to you, we hereby narrate to you the best narrative, while before this you were among those unaware (of it). QS 2:1-3. QS 16:104
If you do not understand what you say in front of Allah, Allah warn you as follow;
O ye who believe! approach not prayers with a mind befogged, until ye can understand all that ye say, nor in a state of ceremonial impurity (except when travelling on the road), until after washing your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a journey, or one of you cometh from offices of nature, or ye have been in contact with women, and ye find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For Allah doth blot out sins and forgive again and again.QS 4:43
Have you seen him who denies the Recompense? (1) That is he who repulses the orphan (harshly),[] (2) And urges not on the feeding of AlMiskîn (the poor),[] (3) So woe unto those performers of Salât , (4) Those who delay their Salât (prayer ), (5) Those who do good deeds only to be seen (of men), (6) And prevent Al-Mâ'ûn (small kindnesses like salt, sugar, water). (7) QS 107 :4-5.
It is very clear that those who do not understand what you say in prayer, Allah do not accept your doa, or your prayer. You pray for nothing. It means you do not pray at all.
Based on Allah’s verses above, I believe that if you still do not understand what you say in shalat or prayer in Arabic language, you better use your own language, so you can understand what you say or what do’a you say in front of Allah.
So do not feel guilty or sin if you shalat with your own language.Allah create nations and many language that Allah understand very well.
Arabic language is not better that other language, Arab people are not better that other nation. Allah will judge who follow Allah laws better that other. Allah is all Knower and Wiser.
